Fitness Redefined

Fitness is the key to leading an active and healthy life. Fitness doesn’t need to happen in a gym. We are talking about real-life fitness here, not the exploited photos posted on Instagram. Fitness is not trendy. It is not the pursuit of showing off as much skin as possible. It’s much, much deeper than that. Sure, everyone wants to look good, but this is not the end all. As we strive to obtain a higher level of health and fitness, body image will improve and a leaner physique will follow.

Fitness should occur in everyday life. Taking a walk on your lunch hour, eating meals that nourish the body, walking your dog at the park, simply moving; these are all fitness-related activities, but need consistency in order to impact your health. Wouldn’t you like to enhance your level of fitness?

Let’s get serious for a moment. What’s important to you? What do you enjoy doing? Is it important for you to be able to play with your children, or grandchildren; to explore nature and go for a long-distance walk or hike? What about being able to walk up and down stairs? These simple pleasures will surely deteriorate when you lose sight of your fitness. That’s not to mention the increased risk for a number of diseases when fitness is not a priority.

Fitness is not limited to just physical activities. It’s scientifically proven that exercise keeps minds sharp and stimulates feelings of self-satisfaction. Fitness does not have a distinct goal – everyone thinks about fitness in their own way, with their individual pursuits. What does fitness mean to you?

To me, being fit is the ability to perform activities that are meaningful to us and to our everyday lives.
